Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Business Manager to join our Global Investment Banking division in Australia.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving operational efficiency and strategic direction within the division, aiming to achieve superior business performance and results.

You will effectively partner with business and functional partners, including Finance, Risk, Compliance, Legal, HR, IT, Communications, and Marketing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct market share competitive analysis of industry sectors, markets, and products, as well as ad-hoc analytics.
  • Lead various ad-hoc strategic initiatives and internal management meetings, creating periodic management reports.
  • Predict and interpret strategic & financial reports that combine all aspects of the business, including client profiling, banker productivity, competitive analytics.
  • Assist with annual budgeting and planning processes.
  • Manage content for Investment Banking leadership strategy sessions.
  • Take the lead on implementing compliance protocols / internal audit remediations.
  • Support the business in compliance and adherence to the firm's regulatory obligations.
  • Serve as a point person for Investment Banking with functional partners (Finance, Risk, Compliance, Legal, HR, IT, Communications, and Marketing).

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of 8+ years of business management experience in a financial institution.
  • An undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related fields.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Dealogic, Acrobat, etc.
  • A project management mindset and a can-do approach.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Comfort and confidence interacting with Senior Leaders and management.
  • Detailed orientation and analytical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to take initiative and function collaboratively in a team.
  • Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of Investment Banking products (M&A, ECM, DCM, Lev Fin) is preferred.

Experience in a global financial services organization is also desirable.
