Job Summary:

Mills Recruitment is seeking an experienced Assembly Foreperson to oversee the assembly of Heavy-Duty Road Transport equipment for a leading transportation manufacturing company. As the Assembly Foreperson, you will lead and mentor a team of assembly professionals, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the assembly team to ensure successful and timely completion of trailer fit-outs.
  • Direction and Support: Provide direction and support to tradespeople, trade assistants, and apprentices.
  • Workflow Management: Manage and prioritize workflows to meet production targets.
  • Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
  • Conflict Resolution: Address and mediate concerns related to jobs or staffing.
  • Assembly and Maintenance: Assemble, service, and repair road transport equipment to meet the client's high-quality standards.
  • Documentation and Procedures: Follow established systems and procedures, completing all necessary paperwork and checklists.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, etc.) to resolve assembly-related issues.

Requirements:

  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in mechanical/assembly work.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven leadership experience and training.
  • Industry Knowledge: Expertise in Heavy-Duty Road Transport manufacturing, including knowledge of hydraulics, PTO systems, air braking systems, ABS/EBS, and trailer electrical/lighting systems.
  • Driver's License: HR Driver's License (desirable).
  • Licensing: Current LF (forklift) license or willingness to obtain one.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Time Management: Ability to work efficiently under time constraints and meet deadlines.
  • Methodology and Organization: Methodical and organized with a focus on quality and safety.
