This critical role supports the Head Librarian in overseeing library operations, promoting open scholarship, enhancing scholarly communication, and contributing to scholarly development initiatives.

The successful candidate will lead the development and optimization of library systems, including the Library Management System, RFID, discovery platforms, citation tools, and content management systems. They will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure efficient operations that support library-wide goals in learning, teaching, and research.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development and optimization of library systems across all locations.
  • Drive initiatives to improve the visibility and usage of Avondale's research outputs.
  • Coordinate researcher skills and tools development, including workshops, training, and resources on research skills and metrics.
  • Provide high-level oversight and strategic direction for the Systems and Research Support portfolios.
  • Act as Liaison Librarian for specific schools, providing disciplinary guidance and supporting course proposals.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills. You will have relevant tertiary qualifications, experience in research repository management, and proven ability to manage and optimize library technologies and systems.

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • Demonstrated experience in research repository management and scholarly publishing practices.
  • Proven experience managing and optimizing library technologies and systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
