Position Overview: Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Nuclear and Maritime Engineering
The University of Adelaide's School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering is seeking a committed and skilled researcher and educator at the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level, specializing in Nuclear Engineering and/or Maritime Engineering. We are looking for an expert in Nuclear Engineering, Maritime Engineering, and related fields, with a proven research background or relevant industry experience, and a strong enthusiasm for teaching and course development in areas such as nuclear engineering, radiation detection and measurement, nuclear safety and materials, plasma/fusion science, thermal-fluids, propulsion systems, and maritime engineering. This role will involve collaboration with our active academics in naval nuclear propulsion, systems engineering, hydroacoustics, modelling and computation, numerical and experimental hydrodynamics, energy technologies, and other related domains. Our research is highly interdisciplinary and involves partnerships with scientists, engineers, and industry stakeholders.
Compensation: Lecturer (Level B, $111,031 - $131,335 per annum) plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation.
Qualifications for Level B:
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field, with expertise in nuclear and/or maritime engineering.
- Demonstrated research capability that aligns with the School's research strengths in hydroacoustics, modelling and computation, numerical and experimental hydrodynamics, naval nuclear propulsion, systems engineering, energy technologies, and fluid processes.
- Evidence of research accomplishments through publications in reputable journals or conference proceedings.
- Proven ability to teach effectively using evidence-based pedagogical methods that enhance student learning.
- Experience in developing courses in nuclear and maritime engineering.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with students and colleagues.
Compensation: Senior Lecturer (Level C, $135,388 – $155,696 per annum) plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation.
Qualifications for Level C:
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field, with expertise in nuclear and/or maritime engineering.
- Demonstrated research capability that supports the School's research strengths.
- Significant record of research achievements evidenced by publications in high-quality journals or conference proceedings.
- Proven ability to secure substantial research funding.
- Strong track record in effective teaching and course coordination.
- Experience in curriculum development or pedagogical innovation.
- Ability to attract and supervise postgraduate students.
