Job Description:

The Store Director - Retail Excellence role at Urban Outfitters is a senior management position that requires a high level of expertise in driving sales growth, improving customer satisfaction, and maintaining store profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Development: Strategically recruit, train, and develop managers to increase the day-to-day productivity of the business. Assist with the development of the Management team to ensure that succession planning is in place for individuals and the future growth of the business.
  • Performance Management: Manage all aspects of performance development (Performance Appraisals, Individual Development Plans, Coaching, Counseling, and Disciplinary actions) for a productive, inspired, and successful workforce.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee and assume ultimate accountability for store operations, sales, service, product presentation, visual merchandising, profitability, and loss prevention while maintaining a strong focus on all areas of employee development and succession.
  • Merchant Buying and Planning: Collaborate with the Visual Manager and team to strike the balance in creating an inspirational but highly commercial shopping environment while assuming accountability for the store's profitability.
  • Merchandise Presentation and Display: Facilitate communication between the Retail and Visual teams to enhance the store environment and efficiently execute all merchandising projects in a timely manner.
  • Sales Growth and Profitability: Maximise store sales and manage stock levels appropriately through analysing relevant reports, reviewing market trends, and creative management of merchandise from receipt to sales.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Experience in a senior management role, working in a fast-paced but highly creative and customer-focused retail environment.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Proven record of developing a Management team and talented individuals. Can demonstrate the ability to identify problems and implement creative solutions (back of house, scheduling, organization). An appreciation and understanding of the Urban Outfitters culture and its appeal in the market.
