The role of a Developmental Educator is an exciting opportunity to empower individuals with disabilities to lead fulfilling lives.
This is an ongoing full-time or part-time position with a minimum of 4 days per week, allowing for flexible scheduling and work-life balance.
About the Position:As a Developmental Educator, you will collaborate with participants and their support teams to develop new skills and habits, overcoming challenges that prevent them from engaging with their local community and the wider world.
You will champion the role of a social model practitioner by helping people break down barriers and overcome obstacles, promoting independence and self-advocacy.
- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to provide person-centered support and planning for individuals with disabilities.
- Build strong relationships with participants, families, and support teams to help them envision a life full of positive experiences and opportunities.
- Develop effective working relationships with people and their families, identifying and addressing factors that may affect relationships.
- Hold a Bachelor or Master's degree in Disability or equivalent field.
- Be eligible to become a member of a professional association related to disability services (membership required upon commencement).
- Pass a suitability assessment and be deemed a Behaviour Support Practitioner by a relevant governing body (evidence of certification required).
- Have a valid driver's license.
