About the Position
The Epidemiology Unit within a leading infectious diseases reference laboratory supports the laboratory's core functions and engages in collaborative projects with partners.
Under the director's leadership, the team has access to broader capabilities and development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, supervise, and train staff and students within the unit;
- Lead engagement with internal and external stakeholders, including local public health units and State Departments of Health;
- Initiate and support projects focused on service delivery, knowledge generation, and translational public health research;
- Undertake unit management functions, including operational oversight and recruitment.
Requirements:
- Masters of Applied Epidemiology or equivalent training and professional experience;
- Track record of multi-disciplinary engagement and collaboration with government, clinicians, and researchers;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Specific interest or expertise in genomic epidemiology, emerging infectious diseases, respiratory virus infections, or vaccine preventable diseases.
