The Murrumbidgee Local Health District (LHD) covers almost 125,243 km², providing public health services to approximately 243,228 people across the Riverina, Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area, and the South Western Slopes of NSW.

About the Role
  • As a Provisional Fellow in Ophthalmology, you will be working in a complex clinical environment, under the supervision of experienced ophthalmology specialists.
  • You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in ophthalmology practice, while providing high-quality eye care services to patients of the MLHD.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Contribute to the provision of comprehensive eye care services to patients of the MLHD.
  2. Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and carers to ensure seamless care coordination.
  3. Participate in multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
  4. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with the latest advances in ophthalmology.
Requirements
  • MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • An interest in regional and rural ophthalmology practice would be an advantage.
  • Evidence, after full registration, of no less than five (5) years in practice of medicine in New South Wales Health or in any other organization deemed by the LHD to be of equivalent standing, inclusive of no less than three (3) years in supervised specialist training and/or experience at the level of senior registrar or fellow.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing medical education relevant to the area of practice and a willingness to commit to an equitable hospital on-call roster.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff and to work as an effective member of a clinical team.
  • Willingness to teach medical students and other staff of the hospital when reasonably requested with demonstrated understanding of and commitment to clinical quality improvement and peer review, equal employment opportunity, and Occupational Health Safety and Rehabilitation.
  • Demonstrated significant experience relevant to nominated specialty practice and evidence of competence in skills relevant to Australian rural hospital practice, including trauma and emergency scenarios.
