About the Role

As a Cardiovascular Nurse Specialist with the Central Adelaide Local Health Network, you will be part of a dynamic team providing nursing services within current nursing models of care. This role involves working in a 16-bed Coronary Care Unit with a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio in some areas and a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio in others.

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, providing education and training to your colleagues, and contributing to the development of nursing practice within the unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing services to patients with cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease, heart failure, and arrhythmias.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in consultation with patients and their families.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, including physical examinations, laboratory tests, and diagnostic imaging.
  • Deliver patient-centered care, emphasizing empathy, respect, and compassion.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including data analysis, benchmarking, and process redesign.

Requirements

  • Registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and a current practicing certificate.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in cardiovascular nursing, preferably in a coronary care unit.
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification and a willingness to maintain currency.
