We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial Project Planner to join our team in the defence sector. The successful candidate will be based in Canberra, ACT.

About the Role

The role of Commercial Project Planner is a critical position within our commercial team. As a key member of the project delivery team, you will work closely with Design Managers and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake ongoing review of developing designs to provide cost planning advice and ensure projects stay within budget allowances.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of developing designs and influence cost-effective outcomes through design meetings and cost advice.
  • Provide budget-informed direction to design consultants to facilitate design development within budget parameters.
  • Explore, price, and propose innovative value engineering and design options to the project team and maintain a register of potential items throughout the project.
  • Identify, price, and submit head contract variations to clients, negotiating financial outcomes with client representatives.
  • Perform regular quantity verification analysis to ensure current scope does not exceed contractual scope and associated budget allowances.
  • In conjunction with the Commercial Manager, develop the project Budget-to-Build to a suitable format for the project, mapping it to the original tender budget.

About You

  • Minimum 5 years industry experience in similar positions.
  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Quantity Surveying preferred.
  • Advanced experience in Estimating/Cost Planning, Risk Identification, and Value Engineering, with knowledge of large, complex projects including defence.
  • Demonstrated ability to review design details according to budget requirements and influence design outcomes accordingly.
  • Sound technical construction knowledge.

Salary Information

The estimated salary range for this role is AU$120,000 - AU$180,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
