At our organisation, we are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Youth Mentor. This role involves working closely with young people who are experiencing homelessness, providing them with guidance and support to help them achieve their goals and improve their lives.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of others and contributing to the mission of ending homelessness. As a Youth Mentor, you will play a vital role in helping young people build sustainable lives, create opportunities, and lead independent and fulfilling lives.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one mentoring to young people, focusing on their education, career, and life journey
- Encourage self-reliance and independence in young people
- Help young people set and work towards goals, identify strengths, and develop skills
- Engage in social and recreational activities with mentees, building positive relationships
- Communicate effectively with staff and other stakeholders to ensure seamless support for mentees
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualities and experience:
- Advantaged Thinking Approach: An understanding of or commitment to learn the Advantaged Thinking approach to working with young people and commitment to the program.
- Relationship Skills: Developed relationship skills, communication skills, and the ability to engage and communicate in a non-judgmental manner.
- Self-Awareness: Self-awareness with regard to personal strengths and weaknesses, including the ability to ask for help and support, and to set boundaries.
- Resilience and Reliability: Demonstrate resilience, reliability, and perseverance in your work with young people.
