Linux Kernel Development Opportunities

We are seeking a talented Junior Linux Kernel Engineer to join our team. This role offers the chance to collaborate with a globally distributed team and work on designing, developing, and maintaining the Ubuntu Linux kernel.

The ideal candidate will have a background in software engineering and be motivated to work in a distributed team. They should also be willing and able to travel globally twice a year for company engineering events.

We value experience in C and/or Rust programming languages and familiarity with version control practices, ideally with git. A strong understanding of operating system kernel fundamentals is also essential.

The successful candidate will take personal responsibility for the delivery of various flavors of the Ubuntu Linux kernel and improve tooling and automation for delivery and test of Ubuntu Linux kernels.

About the Role:

  • Collaborate with senior mentors to demystify the inner workings of the Linux kernel and how it is distributed.
  • Develop and implement solutions for key Silicon and Cloud partner platforms.
  • Contribute to the development of new features and enhancements for the Ubuntu Linux kernel.

Requirements:

  • Background in software engineering.
  • Motivated to work in a distributed team.
  • Willing and able to travel globally twice a year for company engineering events.
  • Programming experience in C and/or Rust.
  • Familiarity with version control practices, ideally with git.
  • Understanding of operating system kernel fundamentals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
