Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team at TheirCare, a leading childcare provider dedicated to ensuring the well-being and development of children in our care.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and processing end-to-end payroll, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies. Key responsibilities include:

  • Payroll Management: Calculate correct employee pay by considering hours worked, split shift allowances, taxes, workcover, superannuation, and other factors.
  • Electronic Payments: Process fortnightly electronic employee payments.
  • Leave and Benefits: Process holiday, sick, maternity, and paternity leave payments, as well as manage employee benefits.
  • Employee Support: Answer employee questions about timesheets and payslips, provide support, and resolve issues.
Compliance and Reporting

The Payroll Specialist will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable payroll legislation, including the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards (NES), and Single Touch Payroll (STP). Key responsibilities include:

  • Legislative Compliance: Work closely with the finance team to ensure all payroll aspects comply with national laws and regulations.
  • Superannuation Guarantee: Ensure Superannuation Guarantee compliance and increases are applied correctly.
  • Workcover: Manage workcover requirements, including annual wage declarations and estimations.
  • Reporting Obligations: Ensure timely submission of PAYG reporting, superannuation reporting, and other required reports.
Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Strong Payroll Knowledge: A clear understanding of payroll laws, taxes, and PAYG procedures.
  • Excellent Communication: Strong verbal communication skills, including active listening, for accurately answering employee questions.
  • Mathematical Skills: High-level mathematical skills, particularly confidence using office software and payroll tools like Excel and MYOB Payroll.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software and experience with HR systems.
  • Self-Motivation: Self-motivation and organisational skills to meet deadlines, initiate tasks, and develop professionally.
