Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated junior medical doctor to join our cardiothoracic department as an unaccredited trainee.

The successful applicant will work in a comprehensive cardiac and thoracic surgical service, offering expert care and clinical advice to patients, carers and other health professionals.

Responsibilities include managing a cardiothoracic workload, including theatre duties, ward patient management and liaison with consultant surgeons and multidisciplinary teams.

The role also involves unit teaching, surgical training and supervision of junior medical officers, as well as participating in clinical audit and quality reviews.

Requirements:

  • MBBS or equivalent qualification, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills, and computer proficiency.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a problem-solving multidisciplinary team within a clinical setting.
  • Professional attitude, flexibility and ability to participate in after-hours overtime and on-call rosters.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of ALS, BLS and DETECT (or equivalent).
  • Commitment to continued professional development, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  • Minimum 3 years postgraduate experience, including 3-6 months clinical experience in a cardiothoracic surgical unit.
