Job Description

The University Copyright Officer is responsible for leading copyright education and compliance across the institution, ensuring high levels of awareness and alignment with national and international standards.

Key responsibilities include managing the development and delivery of copyright services, representing the institution in external collaborations, monitoring changes in copyright legislation, leading the Library Copyright Community of Practice, investigating copyright breaches, and providing strategic insights to inform decision-making.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant graduate qualification and extensive experience in leading copyright services within an educational or information-based organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of copyright law, including changes to legislation, open licensing, and Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) rights.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with university stakeholders and external bodies.
  • Expertise in policy development, with the ability to evaluate and improve services based on evidence and emerging trends.
  • Ability to anticipate and manage risks, ensuring the institution's copyright operations are both compliant and forward-thinking.
