The Crowne Plaza Geelong is seeking an Executive Chef to lead the culinary team in its pre-opening phase. This is a pivotal role that requires exceptional leadership and vision to establish and direct all kitchen activities, ensuring seamless operations and creating memorable dining experiences for guests.
As Executive Chef, you will be responsible for developing menus that align with the hotel's concept, target audience, and culinary vision. You will oversee the setup and organization of the kitchen facilities, including designing the layout, selecting equipment, sourcing ingredients, and ensuring all necessary permits and certifications are in place.
You will also hire and train the kitchen team, conduct menu testing and tasting sessions, identify and establish relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and procure all necessary equipment. Your primary focus will be on maintaining rigorous quality control standards to ensure that all dishes meet the hotel's culinary standards and guest expectations.
To succeed in this role, you must have relevant degree or diploma in culinary arts, 5 years' experience as a chef with at least one year in a Head or Executive Chef capacity, strong communication skills, and strategic thinking. You should be fluent in English and able to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities across diverse outlets.
