Job Title

The SKA Observatory is a next-generation radio astronomy facility that will revolutionise our understanding of the Universe and the laws of fundamental physics. Enabled by cutting-edge technology, it promises to have a major impact on society, in science and beyond.

The SKA-Low telescope project is in the construction phase and the site is under management and control of the Principal Contractor. Over time, the Principal Contractor will hand back the site which will then be operated by the SKA-Low team for the 50-year planned operation of the telescope.

This role will work with the SKA-Low team to continuously refine our best-in-class safety culture. The Senior HSE Advisor will spend 50% of time on site. Travel to and from site will be via aircraft, flying from Geraldton to site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the SKA-Low HSE Management Plan as a foundation for building a strong, reliable safety culture.
  • Provide clear leadership to the HSE team, fostering a shared sense of purpose and encouraging professional development.
  • Support the broader SKA-Low team in understanding the rationale behind safety requirements and how they contribute to overall success.
  • Prepare HSE reports that clearly communicate key metrics, risks, and outcomes to drive informed decision-making.
  • Lead incident investigations using structured methodologies to uncover root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
