Accounting Assistant Role

The Junior Assistant Accountant position at DP World Australia is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of accounting data for terminals and its timely flow into the centralised accounting system. This role will provide support and backup to the Accounting Supervisor and Accountants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide management with relevant information and reports as required, including variance analysis.
  • Prepare and process employee expense journals.
  • Prepare month-end journals (prepayment, accruals, payroll, banking, employee provisions, and recharges).
  • Reconcile Inventory to the general ledger.
  • Assist the Accounts Payable team with invoice codings and provide assistance with recharges and journals.
  • Assist with half-year and year-end schedules (for half-year and year-end statutory accounts).
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly reforecasts.
  • Update and maintain the fixed asset register.

Requirements

  • Accounting degree or Professional accounting qualifications (CPA, CA) required.
  • Experience in industry preferable but not required.
  • Experience with computerised accounting systems.
  • Sound knowledge of business/accounting & information systems.
  • Highly computer literate (must have intermediate to advanced Excel skills & experience with accounting systems).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
