Senior Project Engineer

As a Senior Project Engineer at AspenTech, you will play a key role in devising and implementing complex solutions to meet the needs of utilities in the energy transmission, distribution, and generation business.

The Role

  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to less experienced engineers, ensuring the successful delivery of projects.
  • Evaluate contract specifications and define project requirements, driving the development of innovative solutions.
  • Communicate detailed software enhancement requirements to internal departments, fostering collaboration and ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Design, plan, integrate, test, and commission SCADA systems, reporting technical details to the Project Manager and internal stakeholders.
  • Create project documentation, including descriptions of specific customer requirements, to ensure clarity and understanding.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing resources effectively.
  • Conduct training sessions at customer sites and within OSI premises, sharing expertise and knowledge with colleagues and clients.
  • Build lasting relationships with customers through professional, efficient, and pleasant communication, driving customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Develop leadership capacity through a supportive and engaging culture, empowering team members to grow and succeed.

What You'll Need

  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency with full working rights, preferably based in Sydney.
  • Ability to attend the office in Macquarie Park, Sydney, on a flexible basis, and prepared to travel to customer sites across the region when required.
  • 5+ years of related experience in the utility industry, with expertise in SCADA, Energy Management Systems, Distribution Management Systems, Outage Management Systems, or DERMS.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field of engineering.
  • Strong technical background in automation and computer control systems, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of electric utilities and power systems operations, communications with field devices, relational databases, and operating systems, and/or network engineering.
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal, communication, reporting, and planning skills.
  • Natural curiosity and desire to leverage expertise to develop other team members and improve the work environment.
  • Ability to effectively influence others to assist in achieving objectives more efficiently.
  • Strong commitment to providing superior customer service.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly express technical concepts verbally and in writing.
