About Our Mental Health Clinician Role

The Safeguards Team is a community-based resource that provides innovative and best-practice care to children and adolescents aged 0-17 years experiencing acute mental health distress. This role will be part of the team, working with Child and Adolescent Consultation Liaison Service to ensure assertive outreach needs are in place for consumers of the service.

This position is located within the acute team, supporting the assessment and transition of children and young people to Children and Adolescent and Youth Mental Health Services or other appropriate treatment providers. The clinician will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care management pathways for consumers with complex health needs who are at risk of admission to hospital.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to assess and manage consumer needs
  • Develop and implement care management pathways for consumers with complex health needs
  • Provide specialist mental health services and tertiary consultation to children and young people in community settings
  • Liaise with community partners to facilitate pathways to appropriate services

Selection Criteria:
  • Qualification as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist or Allied Health Professional or relevant degree in Health
  • Extensive direct clinical experience of Child and Adolescent presentations
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in using evidence-based family and individual intervention models
  • Sound interpersonal skills and ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with a range of individuals
  • Ability to problem solve complex situations and deliver results in a timely manner
