About the Role

Sarah Redfern High School is a co-educational comprehensive secondary school providing exceptional learning opportunities for all. Located in the south-west Sydney area, the school serves a diverse community including academically gifted students and those requiring learning support. Our inclusive learning community comprises 65% students from a Language Background Other Than English (LBOTE) and 10% identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

The school builds strong relationships with the local Aboriginal community and the Dharawal people. We foster high standards and have high expectations that every student will succeed in their learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of operational procedures and compliance requirements to contribute to whole-school administration.
  • Demonstrated capacity to identify and analyse data to inform targeted initiatives to improve student achievement.
  • A highly developed understanding to contribute to and implement the School Excellence Plan.
  • Leadership capacity to drive school initiatives supporting strategic directions.

Selection Criteria:

  • Successful teaching experience with ability to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare to lead quality teaching programs.
  • Educational leadership skills to build staff capacity and manage performance.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to engage students, staff and parents.
  • Ability to plan resources effectively to support teaching and learning.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
