About the Role

Healius is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Specialist to join their team. This role involves routine receipting and processing of specimens, including operation and maintenance of analysers.

Responsibilities

  • Routine receipting and processing of specimens; including operation and maintenance of analysers
  • Pre and post-analytical specimen handling
  • Identification and prioritisation of urgent specimens
  • Filing and storage of specimens and data entry
  • Assisting scientists in the lab as required
  • Continuous learning of processing requirements of different types of samples for different tests
  • Staying up-to-date with processing updates
  • Responding to result, sample requirements, and general queries
  • Identifying and resolving problems at the pre-analytic stage

About You

To be considered for this position, you will need to have a great blend of skills, including:

  • Specimen processing and data entry experience
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • The ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work as a team
  • Understanding the importance of following procedures accurately
  • A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
  • Previous laboratory experience and exposure to medical terminology would be desirable, but not essential
  • Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques or Pathology Collection is desirable

Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per annum
