Job Title: Rangeland Ecologist

Role Overview

As a Rangeland Ecologist, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of our Human Induced Regeneration (HIR) program. This involves direct liaison with landholders to co-design HIR projects, collect evidence of compliant management activities, and work closely with other teams for monitoring and modelling of carbon abatement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with landholders to ensure timely management activities for HIR projects and ensure management activities are appropriately monitored and evidence collected.
  • Manage interactions with different stakeholders with good interpersonal skills and adaptability to a range of circumstances.
  • Project management in line with the Carbon Farming Initiative Act, using project portals and ensuring projects comply with legislation, regulations, guidelines, and codes.
  • Ensure high levels of data management and assist in developing management plans and offset reports.
  • Coordinate third-party audits of projects and stay up to date with relevant policy positions, regulatory requirements, and guidance from the Clean Energy Regulator.
  • Work with Health, Safety, Security, and Environment policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct field monitoring to quantify and characterize vegetation, including mature and regenerating vegetation, to ensure regular monitoring of HIR carbon projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications

You should have a tertiary qualification in the natural sciences, such as ecology, environmental science, natural resource management, or agricultural science. You will also require experience in applied rangeland ecology, working in remote locations, solving problems as they arise, and skilled in stakeholder engagement and inter-personal skills.
