About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Forensic Psychologist to join our team at The State of Queensland. As a key member of our Psychological Services Unit, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional support to our staff in correctional centres.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement evidence-based assessment and intervention strategies for adults facing challenges such as suicidality, mental health issues, cognitive impairments, or developmental disorders.
  • Provide expert clinical advice and professional development to staff in correctional centres.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to psychological services.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve our strategic objectives, including creating safer correctional environments, ensuring humane management of prisoners and offenders, fostering partnerships and community collaboration, and reducing crime.
Requirements
  • Provisional or General Registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse client group.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality professional reports and case notes.
  • Legislative knowledge and ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Commitment to excellence and a passion for continuous learning and professional development.
