The Role

We are seeking an experienced and professional Mechanical Fitter to join our Dandenong South-based state-of-the-art workshop facility. This is a casual position with the potential for permanent work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review work orders and/or blueprints, sketches, and diagrams to determine the required work.
  • Disassemble and assemble components with precision.
  • Inspect and measure components using precision tools and instruments to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Clean parts using solvents, steam cleaners, hot tanks, sand blasters, and/or caustic soda.
  • Prime or paint parts by hand or with a spray gun.
  • Set up and balance rolls to required tolerances established by work orders, supervisors, and/or engineers.
  • Make balancing decisions on rolls based on experience and available information.
  • Complete inspection forms and reports accurately.
  • Look for improvements in process, implement lean manufacturing principles, and provide information to supervisors for implementation.
  • Clean the work area and maintain equipment during shifts.

Requirements

  • Australian Trade Qualifications relevant to the role.
  • Strong background working in heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, sketches, and work orders, as well as mechanical abilities.
  • Ability to assemble and disassemble rolls, parts, and machine components.
  • Operate small machine tools.
  • Meet production deadlines and demonstrate flexibility in job duties and hours.
  • Exhibit high-level judgment for safety awareness and response to emergencies and urgent job demands.
  • Use prescribed safety procedures and equipment per specific job requirements.
