Live Unit Subtitler Job Description

In this dynamic role, you will be part of an innovative team that brings better content and experiences to millions of people.

  • Work on building the next-generation live programming services for our Sky channels.
  • Deliver high-quality subtitles in real-time using Dragon Naturally Speaking voice-recognition software.
  • Repurpose live captions for repeat showings and edit text retrieved from newsroom computer systems into pre-prepared one or two-line subtitles.

Effective communication skills are essential to liaise with colleagues, newsroom contacts, and technical staff. You will also exhibit quick reactions and responses to transmission operational problems and escalate to line management/technical support as needed.

This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and attention to detail. Your knowledge of sport and current affairs is a must, along with the ability to absorb new subtitling software and systems. Familiarity with programme compliance issues and excellent English grammar and spelling are also crucial.
