About the Job

We are seeking a proactive, innovative, and industry-focused researcher to join our team as an Associate Professor (Advanced Process Control Engineer).



Key Responsibilities


  • Teaching:

    • Deliver high-quality teaching and supervision to Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students, fostering their academic and professional development.
    • Assess and provide feedback on student work, contributing to curriculum innovation and content design.
    • Contribute to training programs that enhance industry collaboration and foster business development opportunities.


  • Research:

    • Act as a key liaison between the university and industry stakeholders, understanding their needs and identifying areas where we can add value.
    • Develop and lead a research program that meets the needs of industry partners in the mining and resources sectors.
    • Engage with industry partners, leveraging their in-kind data contributions to drive practical research outcomes.
    • Foster collaboration between industry and academia, leveraging research and funding opportunities.
    • Explore opportunities to extend research applications beyond mining into the oil and gas sector.
    • Disseminate research findings through seminars, workshops, and publications in high-quality outlets.
    • Manage administrative tasks related to research activities.

Selection Criteria


  • A PhD in process engineering or a related field, with a strong understanding of process control.
  • Significant industry experience, particularly in resource sectors like mining and oil & gas.
  • Demonstrated high-level teaching skill and a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching delivery.
  • A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree research students.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake unit coordination role.
  • Strong ability to engage with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated practical approach to research, with less emphasis on traditional publication metrics.
  • A history of successful competitive grant applications and/or demand-driven industry funding.
  • Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills.
