About the Role

Curtin University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Manager, Projects and Partnerships within the School of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences (EECMS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategy Development: Collaborate with the leadership team in the development and implementation of the school's strategic vision.
  • Project Management: Direct and coordinate activities to manage projects and programs from proposal initiation to operational stage, including transition into business-as-usual (BAU).
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Influence and negotiate with senior managers and key stakeholders to align projects with strategic plans and business goals.
  • Researcher Engagement: Collaborate with the school's researchers to assist them in delivering industry-sponsored projects.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage cross-functional project teams, fostering open communication and effective teamwork.
  • Contract Management: Oversee complex contracts with external providers, ensuring successful delivery of contracted services.
  • Budget and Reporting: Develop program budgets and provide detailed costing and budget reports to key stakeholders. Monitor progress, report on performance, and undertake post-implementation reviews.
  • Governance and Communication: Manage program/project governance, chair stakeholder meetings, and deliver high-level presentations.
Requirements
  • Postgraduate Qualifications: Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience in managing significant resources or large-scale projects, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Leadership Skills: High-level creative, planning, and management skills with the ability to achieve business objectives within complex organisational structures.
  • Industry Experience: Knowledge of and experience in the tertiary education sector specifically with researchers.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Financial Management: Strong financial and budget management understanding.
  • Critical Thinking: Critical analysis skills with sound judgment in complex decision-making.
  • Sustainability: Experience with sustainability, ESG, and net-zero considerations, including related legislation and government policies.
  • Commercial Partnerships: Experience managing commercial partnerships and supporting research innovation and commercialisation.
