Job Opportunity: Senior Rail Fleet Maintenance Specialist for NSW Regional Rail Project

The NSW Government is upgrading its regional rail fleet, replacing the aging XPT, XPLORER, and Endeavour trains with modern, safer, and more accessible models. These new trains will enhance the travel experience for customers journeying from Sydney to various NSW regional centers, as well as Canberra, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

As part of this project, UGL will oversee the asset management and maintenance of this new fleet, consisting of 117 rail cars, training simulators, and a state-of-the-art maintenance facility in Dubbo. Our team will manage these responsibilities for a minimum of 15 years.

We're seeking dedicated, skilled professionals to join our team at the Mindyarra Maintenance Facility in Dubbo, NSW, on a permanent, full-time basis.

About the Role

As a Senior Rail Fleet Maintenance Specialist, you will play a key role in the facility's mobilisation, train completion tasks, and ongoing fleet maintenance. Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Conducting fault-finding, diagnostics, rectifications, and post-work testing
  • Addressing damage and vandalism issues
  • Providing additional support as needed for facility and equipment maintenance
  • Some overtime may be required to ensure the continuity of services and address unscheduled maintenance needs.

About You

We are looking for individuals with:

  • RIW Card
  • First Aid Training (preferred)
  • Rail maintenance, including fault finding, component replacement, and remote diagnostics experience (preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Willingness to assist in facility maintenance as needed
  • Capacity to work over a rotating 24/7 roster
