We are seeking a skilled Medical Support Specialist to join our team at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, based in the heart of Fitzroy. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and provide administrative support to the Radiology Department.

About the Role

This full-time permanent position offers a rewarding work experience and a chance to be part of a dynamic team. As a Medical Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing a range of administrative tasks, including reception duties, patient scheduling, data entry, and medical audiotyping.

  • You will answer telephone, email, and fax enquiries, ensuring efficient communication with patients and referrers.
  • Efficient patient scheduling will enable maximal utilisation of equipment and staff, supporting the smooth operation of the department.
  • You will accurately enter patient and study information, maintaining up-to-date records.
  • Registration of patient arrival and discharge will ensure seamless transitions throughout their journey.
  • You will perform peripheral administration tasks to maintain a productive and efficient workflow.
  • Processing payments and assisting senior team members with accounts tasks will help manage the department's financial operations.
  • Accurate and timely medical audiotyping of dictated reports will contribute to the department's clinical excellence.
Your Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • VCE or equivalent qualifications.
  • Previous experience in medical administration is highly desirable.
  • A high degree of computer literacy, ensuring proficiency in software applications.
  • Excellent customer service and multi-tasking skills, allowing you to efficiently handle multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • A knowledge of medical terminology, although not essential, would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Professional telephone and reception skills, ensuring effective communication with patients and referrers.
  • Previous experience in invoicing and receipting, supporting the department's financial operations.
  • A current National criminal history check, or willingness to obtain one.
