About the Role:
We are seeking a Financial Analyst to join our team, reporting to the Manager of Global Scenario Planning and Special Projects. This role involves supporting all Tronox Mineral Sands operations by maintaining and developing Life of Mine (LOM) techno-economic models.
The Financial Analyst will utilize these models to conduct financial evaluations of potential Mineral Sands capital projects, develop mine-related inputs for consolidated Tronox Enterprise Optimization (EO) models, and identify future value-enhancing mining scenarios.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and develop Techno-Economic models in MS Excel for Tronox Mineral Sands' operations capable of forecasting LOM production and financial results.
- Provide analysis and evaluation of Mineral Sands capital projects within Tronox, including scenario evaluation and sensitivity analysis.
- Provide analysis and evaluation of major mine development and extension opportunities within Tronox, including scenario evaluation and sensitivity analysis.
- Perform critical review of long-term mine plans to identify potential opportunities to increase production and improve profitability.
- Collaborate with integrated project teams to deliver Concept, Pre-Feasibility and Definitive Feasibility Studies specifically support to economic evaluation of mine development projects.
- Utilise Techno-Economic models to calculate mineral related inputs to Tronox Enterprise Optimisation (EO) model and reconciling EO model outputs to the Mineral Sands long term economic models.
- Work closely with the Global Minerals Resource and Project Development team and the Global Technology & Improvement team to provide financial analysis for commercial decision making.
- Provide support to the annual Resource and Reserve estimation by demonstrating reserves from all mining operations can be economically mined.
- Assist in the evaluation of M&A opportunities and Ad Hoc evaluation of commercial opportunities as required.
- Assist in annual feedstock strategy development;
- Collate and maintain required audit documentation to support assumptions in long term models.
About You:
Preferred candidates will have:
- Bachelor's degree in operations research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in any area which involves analytical skills, creation of the tools / models and data modelling i.e. project evaluation and financial modelling, optimization, or planning including NPV, IRR, payback calculations.
- Mineral Sands mining and processing experience – advantageous
- Knowledge can be in either Financial / Commercial or Metallurgical field. Technical production forecasting and reporting experience would be preferable to pure financial analysis or advanced Excel modelling skills.
- Advanced analytical skills, including ability to identify trends, understanding of key business drivers (financial and production) of the business value chain.
- Strong conceptual thinking and technical skills in advanced MS Excel modelling, Power BI, and other technologies (i.e. SQL)
- Experience in developing and maintaining models using advanced analytics and optimization techniques.
- Confidence in preparing study reports, presentations, and other project documentation.
- Experience in conducting scenario analysis and providing insights and recommendations.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and people skills and ability to communicate complex analytical results in a clear and concise manner to all levels within the organisation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a demanding environment.
