Job Opportunity: Clinical Director and Specialist Psychiatric Support

The Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist position at Gold Coast Health provides clinical specialist Psychiatry support to Mental Health and Specialist Services, making a substantial contribution to the development of a culture of medical education and safe, effective patient-centered clinical practice.

The role involves providing psychiatric care to patients and assisting the Clinical Director in providing management and professional leadership of the department. Additionally, the role will provide training, education, and supervision to junior medical staff and other healthcare team members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical specialist Psychiatry support to Mental Health and Specialist Services
  • Assist the Clinical Director in providing management and professional leadership of the department
  • Provide training, education, and supervision to junior medical staff and other healthcare team members
Requirements for the Role:

To be successful in this role, applicants must possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia plus FRANZCP or equivalent acceptable to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and registrable as a Psychiatry specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Internationally trained candidates may require an acceptable Comparability Assessment undertaken by the appropriate Australian Specialist Medical College as part of the application process
  • Relevant qualification/s and registration must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of clinical duties
  • Strong clinical and teaching experience in Psychiatry
