Senior Network Security Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Security Engineer to join our local Network Services team. In this position, you will be responsible for maintaining high levels of security and network infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with our network and IT teams to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our data and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain network/security solutions, such as firewalls, SD-WAN, VPN, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Monitor network security systems for potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and standards where needed.
- Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments.
- Act as an escalation point for high priority/complex security incidents.
- Respond to security incidents and breaches.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends and threats.
Requirements and Desirable Skills
- 5+ years of experience in a security network environment, with experience designing and implementing firewalls, load-balancers, SD-WAN, and routers.
- Expert understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, QOS, BGP, OSPF, MPLS).
- Familiarity with security standards like ISO 27000, NIST, and Essential 8.
- Experience with security tools (IDS/IPS, SIEM) and scripting (Python, Ansible) for automation.
- Vendor certifications (CCNP/CCIE Security, NSE6+, PCNSE, CCSE, CCSM, etc.).
- Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships.
- Mentoring skills to empower and help grow the team's local knowledge and expertise.
- ITIL process knowledge (Asset/Change/Incident management).
