Job Title: A&R Manager

 

Central Station Records, a leading independent dance music label, is seeking an enthusiastic Artist & Repertoire (A&R) professional to identify emerging and established artists.

 

The A&R Manager will work closely with the team to scout, sign, develop, curate, and define the musical content of the label.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Scouting and identifying emerging artists and producers
  • Representing the label as a face to industry partners and businesses
  • Working with staff to create and implement releases
  • Facilitating audio recording creation by artists
  • Developing knowledge of professionals associated with the A&R process
  • Ensuring brand plans align with artist and label strategies
  • Collaborating on album and single art packaging, videos, digital content, and photos
  • Checking, authorizing, and processing invoices
  • Coordinating mixing and mastering of album and single releases
  • Liaising with label management and production departments
  • Maintaining knowledge of charts, trends, and cultures
  • Building relationships with the wider music industry
  • Ensuring artist concepts are marketable and target consumer behaviors
  • Working with legal to ensure contracts secure rights in the best interests of the business

 

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • Experience in the record label, management, agency, or dance music industry
  • A passion for music and understanding of A&R
  • A strong sense of style and artistic merit
  • Understanding of current trends and styles in music and culture
  • Good understanding of youth digital media landscape
  • Empathy with artists and creative process
  • Ability to work under pressure and negotiate
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills
