About the role

A casual counsellor position is available at a drug and alcohol centre. The successful applicant will be allocated clients when demand exceeds staffing levels.

You will provide generalist counselling services to clients in the residential program, including psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, and relevant modalities.

  • Provide interventions to motivate clients toward change, including harm minimisation and relapse prevention strategies.
  • Identify and respond to significant risk factors or deterioration in client condition, and develop a management plan.
  • Develop professional relationships with clients and their families/carers.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, or a related field and registration with AHPRA or Australian Counselling Association.
  • Highly developed knowledge of alcohol and other drugs theoretical frameworks and evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
  • A sound understanding of professional, ethical, and legal requirements for treatment and clinical management.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and deliver care with integrity and accountability.
