About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior HR Policy Officer to join our People Policy team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction of the Australian Federal Police and driving employment relations legislation and policy change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement HR policies and guidelines that align with the AFP's employment framework and principles.
  • Provide expert advice on HR theory, frameworks, principles, policies, and practice to AFP leaders and employees.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform HR policy development and implementation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives and foster a harmonious and risk-aware work environment.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders at various levels, including the Senior Executive.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced HR professional who possesses the following attributes:

  • Proven experience in a HR role or HR Policy team, with a strong understanding of HR theory, frameworks, principles, policies, and practice.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to convey messages effectively across multiple audiences.
  • Ability to self-direct and proactively navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and work well under pressure.
  • Sound ability to communicate with influence, including good oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Australian citizenship and a Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
