Position Overview
- Employment Term: Part-time, fixed term.
- Location: Work-from-home and Cairns region.
- Remuneration: Social Community Home Care Disability Award Level 4 (pay point dependent on qualifications and relevant experience). Superannuation.
- Shifts: Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Job Summary
The Cairns Response and Connection Practitioner will provide immediate assistance to victims/survivors referred to DVConnect by the Queensland Police Service after experiencing an act of interpersonal violence. This role involves traveling to designated locations within the Cairns region to offer in-person crisis support and coordinate essential practical needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver immediate trauma-informed support to victims/survivors through phone calls, in-person visits, and warm referrals.
- Coordinate emergency transport and accommodation, food, clothing, safety enhancements, and other forms of practical assistance.
- Undertake risk and needs assessments, safety planning, and guide service users through warm referral pathways.
- Work collaboratively with the DVConnect team to ensure seamless service delivery.
Requirements
- Diploma or tertiary qualification in a Community/Human Services related field.
- Minimum two (2) years of professional experience in the social and community services sector.
- Demonstrated experience working with people who have been impacted by violence and an understanding of a trauma-informed approach.
- Significant demonstrated ability to manage competing tasks within agreed timeframes.
- Confident and effective interpersonal, communication, and consultation skills.
