Job Description

The Technical Lead at Ubank is a key role that requires a strong technical vision and leadership skills. As a Technical Lead, you will be responsible for setting the technical direction for the company, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance and set coding standards
  • Define technical architecture and design patterns
  • Create and maintain documentation on technical systems
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Engineers, and Designers to refine tasks
  • Perform code reviews and mentor engineers
  • Identify and prioritize technical debt
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement
  • Align squad goals with organizational objectives and remove blockers
  • Maintain clear communication with the Engineering Manager
  • Promote a positive, collaborative, inclusive team culture
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies, introducing new concepts and practices to the wider Engineering team and codebase
  • Plan for future capacity needs considering technical dependencies and skill requirements
  • Involved in defining hiring processes
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience as a software engineer working across the stack
  • Proven track record of delivering reliable, performant, secure, and cost-effective projects in an agile environment
  • Experience in mentoring team members and improving organizational technical excellence
  • Deep/specialized understanding of the technology stack in a few areas, with a broad general knowledge of the complete stack (front-end, back-end, infrastructure)
  • Experience delivering benefits through continuous integration and continuous delivery
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Technical excellence that contributes to organizational improvement
  • Strong understanding of software testing and security principles and best practices including OWASP
  • Experience in the banking or financial industry
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure and services (Lambda, EC2, EKS, SQS, RDS)
  • Experience with SQL databases, particularly Postgres
  • Experience in testing methodologies, TDD, and frameworks (e.g. Playwright, Cypress)
  • Experience in implementing, designing robust error handling, logging, and observability
