Key Responsibilities
  • Represent us professionally in all external dealings to build strong relationships with clients.
  • Resolve client issues relating to Health, Safety & Environment promptly to ensure compliance and resolve issues effectively.
  • Communicate HSE compliance requirements to trade contractors and stakeholders to maintain effective communication.
  • Support the resolution of Industrial Relations matters as required to address any workplace issues efficiently.
  • Provide HSE input during tender, design, and construction phases to ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Assist with preparing and managing the HSE departmental budget to optimize resources.
  • Advise on cost-effective HSE solutions that reduce risk and injury to minimize costs and maximize safety.
  • Oversee injury reporting and ensure required notifications are lodged to track and respond to incidents.
  • Monitor and report against project HSE budgets and expenditure to maintain transparency and accountability.
Project Delivery
  • Attend pre-start meetings and define HSE responsibilities for projects to ensure a clear understanding of roles and expectations.
  • Develop site management plans and ensure legal compliance to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and follow up on issues to identify and address potential hazards.
  • Provide weekly and monthly HSE reporting to senior management to keep them informed of progress and performance.
  • Ensure all HSE documentation is completed and archived at project close to maintain a record of compliance.
Learning and Development
  • Deliver training for site teams on current HSE legislation and best practices to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to perform their roles safely and effectively.
  • Provide in-house training across all areas of HSE to support employee development and improve overall safety awareness.
  • Conduct project close-out reviews to drive continuous improvement and identify opportunities for growth and development.
  • Review project outcomes and feedback into business processes to inform future improvements and enhancements.
Systems and Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure compliance with company HSE management systems to maintain a high level of safety performance.
  • Lead regular reviews of HSE performance and systems to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.
  • Represent us during audits and inspections to demonstrate our commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Manage the Non-Conformance Improvement (NCI) system to track and address non-conformities efficiently.
  • Recruit, lead, and support HSE team members to build a skilled and motivated team.
  • Induct new employees into HSE systems and requirements to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • Continuously improve processes for safer, more sustainable outcomes to achieve our goal of zero harm.
Knowledge & Experience
  • A tertiary qualification in Health, Safety & Environment or a related field would be highly regarded.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in HSE roles within the construction industry would provide valuable expertise and knowledge.
  • Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards would ensure compliance and best practice.
  • Qualifications in auditing and training would enhance skills and abilities.
  • High level computer literacy and familiarity with HSE systems would enable efficient and effective work.
