Our company is seeking a skilled Backend Developer to join our team and help us build scalable APIs and services using Python.

We are looking for someone who has hands-on experience with backend development in Python, including designing and implementing system architecture and integrations with third-party platforms.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Hands-on backend development in Python, building and maintaining scalable APIs and services.
  • Designing and implementing system architecture and integrations with third-party platforms.
  • Leading on Azure infrastructure decisions (services, scaling, cost optimisation).
  • Working closely with frontend engineers to ensure smooth API consumption.
  • Contributing to system design and architecture decisions.

Requirements:

  • Strong backend development skills in Python (eg: Flask, FastAPI, Django).
  • Experience with relational databases (MySQL/Postgres) and writing performant queries.
  • Experience designing and consuming APIs (REST and/or GraphQL).
  • Hands-on experience with task queues and message brokers (Celery, RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, etc.).
  • Proven ability to design scalable, secure, and maintainable distributed systems.
  • Experience with building, deploying, and managing infrastructure and services on Azure.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native development and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience building products from scratch in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure architecture: scaling, networking, monitoring, cost management within Azure.
  • Experience in the energy industry or other regulated industries.
  • Exposure to frontend frameworks (React, Vue, TypeScript) — not critical, but useful for collaboration.
  • Knowledge of observability tools and practices.
