About the Counsellor Role

Our organisation seeks a solution-focused Counsellor to provide support and help residents undertaking their recovery programme.

This role involves working in a multidisciplinary team within AOD and Mental Health, requiring experience in these areas. The successful candidate will work part-time or full-time, minimum 15 hours per week, up to 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Counselling patients/residents within AOD and Mental Health
  • Screening, assessment, and management in an AOD context
  • Assess and manage clinical client care needs within 30, 60, or 90 day recovery
  • Provide support and education on AOD/recovery to help deal with difficulties and overcome dependencies
  • Recommend appropriate treatments/interventions to the clinical team
  • Maintain accurate clinical notes and patient documentation
  • Support general program delivery and psychiatric medical practitioners

Requirements

To be successful, you must be registered with the relevant professional Board, hold relevant qualifications, and possess knowledge of AOD principles and practice. You should also have a valid Victorian Drivers Licence, National Police/Criminal History Check, and Immunisation Health Check documentation.
