The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a range of heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, graders, front-end loaders, compactors, scrapers, and water trucks.
This includes operating excavator to dig holes and trenches, remove earth, gravel, and other materials, and transport them to designated areas.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate bulldozer or grader to level, distribute soil, sand, rock, and industrial byproducts, and clear trees and rocks.
- Drive rock/articulated/dump/roll-off truck to transport and dump loose materials such as sand, soil, rock, coal, ore, and industrial byproducts.
- Operate front-end loader to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage, loading, or processing areas, and to load trucks.
- Operate compactor to compact soil, sand, rock, gravel, or industrial byproduct materials to a specific compaction required as part of preparing the subgrade of construction projects.
- Operate scraper/tractor to move, haul, and grade earth on construction sites.
- Operate water truck to transport water for construction projects, filling and transporting potable water to crews working at job sites and driving a truck equipped with sprinkling attachment to spray water on roadways to control dust.
- Familiarity with EPA, OSHA, MSHA, and other relevant state and federal regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Proficiency in using email, smartphones, tablets, or computers to manage company information and documents.
- Capability to draft routine reports and correspondence.
- Maintaining acceptable attendance standards per employee handbook.
- Approach work with meticulousness, thoroughness, and timeliness.
