Project Overview

This science education project aims to assess the impact of teacher professional development in Einsteinian Science on students' subject choices and career outcomes.

Research Objectives
  1. Evaluate and optimize professional development programs for teachers in Einsteinian physics.
  2. Investigate teachers' views on professional development in Einsteinian physics and its influence on teaching efficacy and attitudes towards science teaching.
  3. Assess students' understanding of modern physics concepts, particularly among Grade 3 to Grade 10 students.
  4. Track students' subject choices beyond Year 10 who undertake Einstein-First programs and evaluate their STEM career choices.
  5. Identify barriers to girls' participation in physics and STEM and examine how teachers upskilled in Einsteinian physics can attract more girls into physics.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement research projects related to the objectives outlined above.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports and publications.
  • Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Develop a new school curriculum consistent with our understanding of the universe.
Requirements
  • Australian permanent residents must meet entrance requirements for postgraduate enrolment.
  • Part-time Masters, EdD, or PhD positions are available to teachers conducting research concurrently with classroom teaching.
  • Non-Australian residents are liable for high cost international student fees.
Qualifications
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
