This is a permanent employee status, offering flexibility and commitment to being available as you would be paid for each day. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team working toward the shared purpose of achieving and maintaining the health and wellbeing of Defence members.

You will be responsible for delivering primary medical care to patients in accordance with professional standards, legislation, and Defence Policies and Procedures. This role requires recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA, and current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner, General in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Australian Citizenship is required to obtain the necessary Baseline Security Clearance for this role. You must have Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) OR, Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) OR Vocational Registration.

The estimated annual salary for this position is around $120,000 - $180,000 AUD. About the Role:

  • You will form part of a multidisciplinary team working toward the shared purpose of achieving and maintaining the health and wellbeing of Defence members.
  • You will be responsible for delivery of primary medical care to patients in accordance with professional standards, legislation, and Defence Policies and Procedures.
  • You will assess Defence personnel for fitness for duty and provide care that supports the health and wellbeing of members pre and post deployments.
  • You will provide medical technical advice to the Joint Health Unit (JHU) Commanding Officer (CO), Joint Health Command (JHC) Health Centre Manager and Commanders of units.
