Tradesperson Developer

At yourtown, one of the pioneers of work-based social enterprises in Australia, we've provided over 3,000 young people with paid work experience and training over two decades.

Our program pairs experienced tradespeople with youth workers to provide supervision and mentoring support for up to four trainees engaged in labour-intensive work designed to build entry-level skills.

We're looking for someone who excels working outside on construction tools, with a keen eye for detail and strong experience in building trades. You'll take pride in your work and be passionate about sharing your skills and knowledge with young people.

We work on long-term contracts with large organisations, providing stable work throughout the year and personal satisfaction from making a real difference in the lives of young unemployed people.

You will have:

• 38 hours per week, Monday – Friday

Your role will involve:

• Performing a wide range of grounds and garden maintenance tasks
• Managing, mentoring, and training a group of young trainees
• Leading by example and fostering a sense of independence and wellbeing
• Ensuring contract specifications and scheduling requirements are met
• Maintaining tools and equipment
• Promoting a positive Workplace Health and Safety culture and ensuring active compliance

You will bring:

• Passion, commitment, and belief in young people
• Recognised industry/trade qualification (preferred)
• At least 5 years grounds/garden maintenance experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of WHS requirements
• Excellent communication skills to build relationships with our trainees and customers
• Current white card and first aid certificate or ability to obtain
