The University of Tasmania is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Marine Spatial Science to join its Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies. This exciting opportunity allows you to contribute to research on the distribution of marine species, integrate marine and landscape ecology, and address broad-scale patterns in marine systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake scholarly undergraduate and postgraduate coursework teaching, developing new teaching materials and updating existing ones as required
  • Conduct high-quality research of national and international standing, secure external funding, publish research findings, and supervise Honours/Masters and research higher degree students
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders to support the sustainable management of Tasmania's living marine resources
  • Mentor students in marine landscape ecology techniques and facilitate interdisciplinary research and teaching

Requirements:

  • PhD or equivalent in a relevant field such as marine and coastal ecology, geography, geospatial science, or oceanography
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in spatial analysis and remote sensing techniques, software packages, and programming languages for marine spatial science
  • Proven track record of leading or contributing to quality research publications and conference presentations, with an emerging (for Level B) or established (for Level C) record of research achievement
  • Experience in University-level teaching and learning, with ability to develop and deliver engaging teaching materials in marine spatial science
  • Strong evidence of independent work leading to timely and significant outcomes, coupled with effectiveness in team collaboration and relationship-building

About the Role:

  • This full-time position offers a total remuneration package of up to $150,759 for Academic Level B, comprising a base salary within the range of $110,992 to $128,854 plus 17% superannuation
  • For Academic Level C, the total remuneration package is up to $178,024, comprising a base salary within the range of $133,981 to $152,157 plus 17% superannuation
