Are you an accomplished accounting professional seeking a new challenge in a dynamic commercial law firm?
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our team as the sole internal accountant, reporting directly to the Managing Partner/Director.
About the RoleIn this key role, you will be responsible for taking 100% ownership of the firm's entire accounting function, from day-to-day operations to high-level strategic business input.
- You will manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial management reporting, reconciliations, trust accounting, budgets, forecasts, cash flows, PAYG, payroll (outsourced), variance analysis, superannuation, BAS, and GST.
- You will ensure corporate governance and regulatory compliance, including Law Society trust account audits, and manage insurances such as workers' compensation and professional indemnity.
- You will provide valuable commercial and strategic business input to support the firm's growth and success.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A degree or diploma in accounting/bookkeeping, preferably with CA/CPA qualification or studying/partly qualified.
- Minimum 4-10+ years of broad hands-on accounting experience as an accountant or bookkeeper.
- Experience working in a law/accounting firm with expertise in trust accounts.
- High accuracy and attention to detail, along with strong commercial acumen.
- Prior experience using Affinity legal accounting software is a plus.
- The ability to thrive in a busy multi-tasking environment with efficient time management and deadline-driven skills.
