Water Management Specialist

This exciting opportunity is available to recently graduated individuals who are interested in working in water resource management to gain skills and experience addressing Queensland's greatest challenge of a reliable and sustainable future for our water resources.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be required to work collaboratively on the development of water plans across catchments for sustainable water management. This includes conducting water planning activities within a Region, coordinating input from associated multi-disciplinary teams, and delivering output for water planning functions and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drafting policy papers and recommendations for the development of water plans, supporting instruments, and other water planning documents in line with Queensland Water Act 2000 requirements.
  • Undertaking technical reviews to inform the development of water management solutions and policy, and liaising with technical experts from various disciplines to inform the technical review.
  • Conducting desktop research, data collection, interpretation, and analysis to inform the assessment of a range of water management and policy issues.
  • Assisting with consultation with internal and external clients.
  • Preparing policy papers, briefing notes, and other correspondence as required.
  • Contributing to analysis and interpretation of existing National and State Government strategies, policies, and legislation in relation to efficient and sustainable management of Queensland's water resources.
