Medical Receptionist Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced medical receptionist to join our team.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Open and close the clinic as per set procedure
  • Assist patients and other callers in a professional and courteous manner
  • Arrange appointments for patients
  • Manage patient records confidentially and efficiently
  • Process patient payments accurately via various methods
  • Prepare invoices for Medicare, Private Health Funds, TAC, Workcover
  • Interact with referring doctors, hospital staff, pharmacists etc professionally
  • Attend to patient enquiries
  • Fill in the roster when staff is away or unavailable
  • Maintain the reception waiting area and consulting rooms tidy
  • Ensure accurate storage and retrieval of patient and practice records
  • Protect patient personal and financial information
  • Coordinate recalls
  • Support day-to-day operations of the medical centre
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and teamwork skills
  • High level of computer literacy and IT knowledge required
Selection Criteria:
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Experience working with Medical software (e.g. BEST PRACTICE/MEDICAL DIRECTOR)
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to quality patient service delivery

Remuneration package negotiable based on experience.
