Job Description

We are seeking a Digital Experience Strategist to join our team at Local Peoples, a strategic research and design studio based in Melbourne and Canberra.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a talented team of designers, researchers, and strategists to create innovative digital experiences that make a positive impact on people's lives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and collaborate on user research activities and develop design solutions to clarify project scope, identify user needs, define user journeys, and create UI mock-ups and prototypes.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to educate stakeholders about UX design methodology and its value, and contribute to improving team processes and projects.
  • Provide expert advice to ensure high design standards and provide design guidance and solutions throughout the project lifecycle to support user needs.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality materials consistent with the Department's visual style guide, branding, and digital strategy.

Requirements

  • Significant experience leading UX/UI design and research work on complex online services, with tangible outcomes delivered in the past.
  • Proven experience working in a multi-disciplinary team, building rapport with stakeholders and educating them about UX design methodology and its value.
  • Ongoing oral and written communication skills, with ability to collaborate and influence a wide range of audiences by clearly articulating design recommendations through a thoughtful rationale.

Desirable Criteria

  • Understanding of business context of Department of Employment and Workplace relations and/or Department of Education and other Australian Government departments and agencies related to employment and education.
  • Experience using robust design systems in Figma.
  • Experience designing UIs to meet web accessibility standards.
